Welcome student. Your training starts here!
Aikido is a Japanese martial that was taught by Morihei Ueshiba over the 20th Century. Like other modern Japanese forms such as Judo and Kendo, Aikido emerged from a series of devastating and battle-tested techniques or Ko-ryū, which evolved over time to become less dangerous and more suited to the general public. Kyushin-Ryu Aikido is a distinctive, early form of Aikido that was taught to Kenshiro Abbe by Ueshiba in the 1940s before Sensei Abbe introduced it to the UK in 1954. It is our mission to preserve this distinctive, pre-war form of Aikido, which today remains a living history.
Our school also teaches Atemi-Ryu Jujitsu which stems from our Aiki Jujitsu heritage, with an emphasis on manipulating an opponent to expose the weak vital points of the body, and then applying devastating strikes.
Our teachings can be practiced by people of all ages, sexes and body types. Based on full and natural body movement, our Aikido uses and exercises the whole body, mind and spirit. It teaches and develops concentration, flexibility, co-ordination, balance, speed, quick reaction, breath control, and tactical and positional awareness. It does not require physical strength or an aggressive approach.
Our goal is to pass on and preserve the ancient traditions as we live in these modern times. We welcome you to train with us and continue on the traditions as they have been taught to us.

Aikido
Aikido stems from koryu Jujitsu (classic Jujitsu) practised by Shinra Saburo Minamoto no Yoshimitsu around the 14th century in Kyoto. He then trained the Takada family resulting in the development and founding of daito ryu Jujitsu.
Atemi Jujitsu
Ju-Jitsu is an ancient Japanese martial art originally consisted of techniques using a sword, jo-stick and dagger as well as unarmed techniques all designed to be lethal and often finished off their opponent with a dagger.
Kyushin-Ryu Aikido Atemi Ryu Jujitsu Hozon Kai
The Kyushin-Ryu Aikido Atemi Ryu Jujitsu Hozon Kai (Preservation Society) is here to provide opportunities for everyone regardless of age and/or sex to enjoy learning a martial art and the benefits that it provides. Such as discipline, physical development, internal strength and self confidence. This is done in an atmosphere of respect and mutual cooperation and most important you must have “fun” and “love” what you are doing! It is our job to preserve these precious “life preservation” arts and pass them on to future generations.
